What does it mean to curate spaces, memory, narratives and the conditions for a community to thrive?
This experience is an invitation into Hood Futures Studio's spacemaking, worldbuilding practice, exploring how culture can become infrastructure and how memory can become a blueprint for the future.
Beginning at YARD - a prototype, inspired by our grandparents' homes and the political, cultural and social life cultivated in front rooms across generations - we'll trace the journey from intimate domestic space to neighbourhood scale infrastructure.
We'll then walk to the future of home of ABUELOS, where our community is collectively imagining and building a permanent site of hospitality, culture, learning and care. Standing on the land itself, we'll explore the physical reality of dreamwork: what it means to move from imagination to building, from temporary interventions to permanent Black space.
Returning to YARD, we'll gather in the front room for a live reasoning with CS Visuals and Matthew Manning. Through photography, prints and personal artefacts, they'll open a conversation about who gets to tell stories, who owns the images of a place and how cultural production shapes the infrastructures around us and the futures we build.
Part site tour, part dialogue, part collective act of remembering and imagining, Curating the Culture offers an experience of time travel at the scale of infrastructure.
